PART 2. INTERVIEW

Q. Please introduce yourself and your current role at the company.

Kim Sung Gon, Head of Digital Twin Development Team
Currently serving as the Head of the Digital Twin Development Team, Kim Sung Gon leads the development of the Virtual Factory Builder solution based on Unreal Engine.
He oversees projects that integrate digital twin technology with process monitoring and optimization, predictive maintenance, and VR/simulation technologies. His focus is on realizing scalable and sustainable digital transformation initiatives that can be practically applied to real manufacturing sites.

Yoonsoo Lee, Manager, Digital Twin Development Team, Hyundai AutoEver
As part of the Digital Twin Development Team, Yoonsoo Lee is responsible for technology planning and business development.
Starting his career at Hyundai AutoEver as an R&D developer specializing in AI-based computer vision algorithms, he expanded his expertise into autonomous navigation for mobile robots and integrated control systems. Currently, he is dedicated to establishing business models based on digital twin technology and delivering tangible customer value.

Q. Please introduce your company and department.

Our Digital Twin Development Team has been validating its technological capabilities through real-world projects.
We have successfully implemented a digital twin monitoring and simulation system (Unity) at Hyundai Motor Company’s Singapore Innovation Factory and established a real-time monitoring system (Unreal Engine) for the body shop at Kia’s Gwangmyeong EVO Plant.

Building on these proven experiences, we are advancing beyond simple reference achievements. By developing our proprietary Virtual Factory Builder, we are pursuing platformization of digital twin technology — aiming for greater technical integration and scalability.
We are also working to create a collaborative ecosystem involving customers, partners, and developers, thus proposing a new direction to accelerate the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry.

We firmly believe that digital twin technology will evolve beyond simple visualization tools to become a core enabler of data-driven decision-making and smart manufacturing strategies.
Our ultimate goal is to contribute to the creation of a sustainable innovation ecosystem for the future of manufacturing.

Q. Could you explain the technology platform Hyundai AutoEver is developing to drive digital transformation in the manufacturing industry?

To lead the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry, Hyundai AutoEver is developing a next-generation integrated digital twin platform based on our proprietary Virtual Factory Builder.
This platform is designed with international standards and interoperability at its core, enabling flexible application across a wide range of industrial domains. Its cloud-based architecture significantly reduces initial deployment burdens while maximizing scalability.

A key feature of the platform is its integration of AI models and high-precision physical simulations, enabling predictive maintenance and process optimization.
We aim to build an ecosystem where customers, partners, and developers can grow together, going beyond a simple solution to deliver a platform that embodies sustainable scalability and technological differentiation.

Ultimately, we expect this platform to become a central pillar of manufacturing digital transformation, serving as a true icon of innovation.

Q. The theme of the META AI View Summit is “Jump into Possibilities.” What possibilities will you be sharing in relation to virtual reality technology?

I believe that virtual reality technology is evolving beyond immersive experiences to become a critical tool for decision-making and problem-solving.
In particular, in the manufacturing industry, VR has the potential to serve as a core interface for digital twin solutions, realistically replicating complex facilities and processes, and connecting seamlessly to simulation, training, and maintenance.

In my presentation, I will move beyond simply showcasing digital twins as “fascinating technology.”
I will share how digital twins are being practically applied to real manufacturing environments, the business value they are generating, and how we are strategically leveraging AI, high-fidelity simulation, and real-time data to proactively address field challenges.
Ultimately, I will present our vision of using digital twins as a strategic enabler of manufacturing innovation.
