Shaping the Future of the Metaverse with AI
CALIVERSE,CEO/Founder Kima Kim
PART 1. SPEAKER
Kima Kim began his career at NCSOFT, a leading name in the Korean gaming industry. He later joined SEGA, a global game company based in Japan, where he served for over a decade and ultimately became an executive board member, building deep expertise and experience in the gaming sector. Driven by a desire to develop core technologies for innovative VR content, he founded VISION VR (now CALIVERSE). The company delivered a variety of premium VR content for PlayStation VR and major Korean telecom providers. In 2021, the company was acquired by Lotte Innovate, resulting in a rebranding to CALIVERSE and integration into the Lotte Group. Since then, Kima Kim has been leading next-generation metaverse development projects. The CALIVERSE platform supports a wide range of devices including PCs, VR HMDs, 3D mobile apps, and 3D TVs. As a hyper-realistic immersive platform, it delivers groundbreaking experiences that seamlessly connect the digital and real worlds.
CALIVERSE, a subsidiary of Lotte Innovate, possesses cutting-edge technologies such as ultra-high-definition 3D VR live-action production, advanced real-time rendering graphics, and unique capabilities to merge real-life visuals with graphical backgrounds in real-time environments. Based on this distinct technological edge and accumulated expertise, CALIVERSE is setting new benchmarks in entertainment performances, virtual shopping, and Web3 content. Within the metaverse, CALIVERSE offers a more immersive and convenient experience for shopping and entertainment, continually challenging itself to define a new direction in the Web3.0 era.
PART 2. INTERVIEW
Hello, This is Kima Kim, CEO of CALIVERSE, a company leading the creation of the next-generation metaverse.
At CALIVERSE, we are building a vibrant ecosystem where users can enjoy realistic shopping and immersive entertainment experiences such as concerts within a hyper-realistic metaverse platform. Beyond just consumption, we empower users to become creators and protagonists of their own content, enabling seamless connections between people, content, and digital spaces.
Users can begin by creating their own avatars and customizing virtual spaces through interior design. From there, they can go further—bringing NPCs to life by integrating AI models like ChatGPT, or crafting entirely original quests with unique storylines.
While user-generated quests are currently in their early stages—mainly involving basic conversations or guiding movements between locations—they are designed to scale into vast, field-based core gameplay that will create powerful synergy across the platform.
Our goal is to build a sustainable Web3 ecosystem where storytellers, character creators, and spatial designers can collaborate, trade, and lease their creations. Through this system, we envision a metaverse where new stories are constantly emerging, driven by a dynamic creator economy.
We are especially focused on enabling talented users—those with a gift for singing or dancing—to perform and grow as virtual artists within our world, providing a stage where creativity meets opportunity.
At CALIVERSE, we are currently focused on a PC-based client platform, but we’re expanding our content this year to include versions for VR HMD apps and web-based access. In particular, we’re preparing to launch a new immersive experience using a dedicated 3D mobile application and specialized 3D film technology.
Through this app and film, users will be able to enjoy K-pop concerts and EDM performances created by CALIVERSE right from their mobile devices in a way that feels truly revolutionary and immersive. We’re also working to extend this technology into areas like advertising and film, and we’re simultaneously developing apps that allow users to build emotional bonds with AI characters or explore immersive shopping experiences.
What sets our solution apart is its automatic stereoscopic conversion of nearly all video and image content—including personal selfies and user-created videos—into 3D. Our film also offers 9H hardness, providing both screen protection and crystal-clear image quality even in 2D mode, without any visual distortion. This makes it a truly distinctive product compared to others on the market.
We believe this innovation will dramatically increase the range of possibilities for VR content consumption on everyday devices and help push the metaverse into a more accessible and engaging future.
At CALIVERSE, our mission is to liberate digital experiences from the limits of time and space, creating a world where the value of reality is further extended—and where AI-powered creativity can flourish in truly seamless and enjoyable ways.
Rather than staying at the theoretical level, we aim to showcase real-life use cases that demonstrate how these ideas are already becoming reality. These examples help prove that what was once a future vision is now entering the stage of practical realization.
In virtual environments, creating a differentiated experience requires more than just structure—it demands content with a high level of completeness and satisfaction. Immersion and presence are absolutely essential in VR, and we plan to share the concrete efforts we’ve made to achieve these, along with the results we’ve already realized.
Although we plan to touch on Web3-oriented features of the platform, we’ll present them lightly and intuitively during the presentation, rather than through a heavy pre-interview or technical discussion. We believe that storytelling and direct user engagement are the best ways to express the potential of this new ecosystem.
